The Ohio class of Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines represent the most powerful submarines ever built for the U.S. Navy. Their length is 560 feet; displacement submerged is 18,750 tons. The fleet of eighteen Ohio class is divided between East and West coasts: half at the Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia; the other half at Naval Submarine Base Bangor, Washington. The ships are fitted with the Trident ballistic missile system. |
